They were all trained by Gregory Frazier’s philosophy of “say what you see” and “one word is worth a thousand pictures”.
I asked this question earlier in our communications exchange – why couldn’t a description of a particular film be written and recorded as an mp3 recording that could be played on a separate mechanism, such as an ipod? It could be synced with the film playing on the computer or dvd player. Legal or not, it might get the attention of the reluctant netflix people. We would be interested in experimenting with this concept.

This was an inicial trial and another trial was to take place but when our anual budget was handed down there was nothing in it to pay for another trial of audio description. last i checked there were about 21 complaints from vision australia that there was no audio description when it was promised. Although i myself would love to see audio description on more than 1 free to air channel on tv not just the ABC. I first heard of audio described DVD’s in 2007 when i got 3 of them for christmas. but my first experience of audio description was when vision australia were runningt television programs like Water Rats and sea change on their station and audio describing what was happening in these shows. And i know how you feel about being excluded from touching statues at a museum or galery some of these places allow you to touch things and others do not it’s disappointing but rules are rules.
